Wing Chun – The truth

Because of the following directions left by our wing chun ancestors, nobody does wing chun the same way, however there are many ways to do wing chun incorrectly, these incorrect versions are not following the guidance left to us below, and that is a how to tell correct wing chun from bad wing chun.

Always stick to the principles/maxims of wing chun they are laid out in stone… really they are laid out on stone chops made Moy Yat

Wing Chun is a conceptual based system; for example, if you’re using a tan sau for something and it works without being collapsed, then use it that way. Otherwise do not use it that way, as its flawed.

Wing Chun does not use techniques, these are set of moves that fit together to meet specific scenarios. If your training this way your setting yourself up to fail, we don’t read minds nobody knows what’s coming at you until it arrives.

Your best Wing Chun will be seen before the end of your life, it will never be complete or finished, but you will have learned what works and why it works which puts you ahead of those that are taking the same journey. A mans wing chun is like a fine wine it gets better with age, and the quality can be clearly seen from beginning to end. This is what makes the grandmaster, a culmination of a mans journey to learn from his passion
